Ever booked a holiday that turned out to be better value than you thought it would be?
That’s what happened to us, when we booked our first Magic Life holiday, so we then booked two more after that one!
We booked our holidays expecting a classic all-inclusive break in the sun. A proper drop-and-flop holiday. Just us, the pool, regular trips to the bar, food when we felt like it, and that switch-off you look forward to.
That’s how we usually holiday, and that’s what we were expecting.
But really these holidays made a lasting impression, and left us wanting more and to return and try the other locations the Magic Life collection has to offer.
Before we went, the plan was simple.
Pool, bar, food, repeat.
No schedules. No pressure. No overthinking anything.
Just easy hotels where everything flows and you don’t have to think too much about what comes next.
🏝️ Two destinations but unique vibes
We ended up experiencing this across different trips:
We were feet first for a week in Fuerteventura, then experiecnced Hurghada with friends and later just the two of us returned again to Hurghada for a 14-night stay.
Each trip had its own feel, but the same foundation underneath it all.
Nothing too complicated, and that consistency is what stood out across each holiday.
🏹 Fuerteventura – archery and accidental friendships
We knew archery was available at the hotel, so our first afternoon we decided to join in.
It was busy, so we ended up in an advanced group. Myself had done a bit before so was fine… Tom on the other hand spent the first few minutes trying to figure out which way round the bow actually goes while pretending he totally knew what he was doing. Typical man won’t ask for help.
The instructor was brilliant though and made it all feel relaxed and fun.
What we didn’t expect was how social it would become.
We met two people who return every year for two weeks. One of them even brings his own bow because he used to compete for Great Britain.
We ended up chatting, laughing, and then bumping into them again later at the bar for drinks.
It was a real holiday connection, all from being in the “wrong” archery group, but one of the most memorable parts of the trip.
🌊 Hurghada – pool days, lagoon swims and competitive edge
Hurghada had a different energy again.
During the group holiday here , it didn’t take Tom long to discover the bar and soon developed a strong love/hate relationship with Ouzos that only got stronger as the days went on. Mainly who can drink more in the next hour between the group, great fun.
Most afternoons at 2pm, Tom somehow became the unofficial MPV for the water polo activity. Competitive doesn’t even cover it. If his team were losing, there may or may not have been some questionable tactics involved, but it made it hilarious to watch. ‘No aggressive’ becoming the main quote of the game.
It was all in good fun though, and half the entertainment was just watching how seriously everyone got into it.
I even joined in on the second trip, which added to the fun, especially when on opposing teams to each other.
The jetty here is on the hotel’s private lagoon, which made snorkelling something special. The water was calm, clear, and full of fish. It felt like we were in Finding Nemo! The one day we were extremely lucky to have a sea turtle appear, a truly amazing memory.

So many fish, so much colour, and at one point we were lucky enough to see a sea turtle surface. Something neither of us will forget.
Food across both resorts was also far better than we could imagine it to be. Plenty of choice, fresh options throughout the day, and snack bars by the pool that were genuinely excellent.
You never had to think too much about where or when to eat. (Pack loose clothing for the end of your trip!)
🎯 Activities we didn’t plan on doing
We ended up trying more than we ever expected.
Spike ball (we think that’s what it was called), darts, water aerobics, aqua cycling and more.
We’re not usually activity people on holiday at all, but the animation team were brilliant. They had that balance of encouragement without pressure, so you never felt awkward joining in. You wanted to join in the fun!
🌅 Entertainment-filled evenings – and the unexpected 🎆
Evenings were a real highlight.
Fuerteventura had strong entertainment, and one night even ended with fireworks, totally unexpected!
Hurghada took it up a level in a different way. Beach parties with music on the sand, makeshift bars, and a social feel without ever leaving the resort. At times it felt like a low-key Ibiza beach night.
The resorts themselves felt good and upscale without being intimidating. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and the staff genuinely wanted you to have a great time.
After the entertainment finished, we’d usually end up playing cards with a drink in hand. That became our own little routine and felt like the perfect way to wind down.
🌙 Lasting impressions
We didn’t leave thinking it changed everything, but we did leave thinking “we got a lot for what we paid.”
Since then, we find ourselves comparing other holidays back to it without even trying.
We’ve got Magic Life resorts in Sharm, Ibiza, Rhodes and Italy sitting on our holiday wish list, and we catch ourselves looking at deals and feeling a bit jealous when we see them… even though our annual leave never quite lines up to make them happen.
And the only other holiday that’s come close to this feeling has been our cruise last year. But we really can’t wait to return to a Magic Life hotel. Definitely magic in the air.
